The adventures of Michelle, Aidan, Josie and Ernest

Don't underestimate the power of the toddler!
Just yesterday, Josie and I were playing with Michelle in the living room when I rhetorically asked Michelle where her "Snoopy" was. To our surprise, she turned around and pointed towards the other side of the living room where he was laying.

What she did next simply shocked and amazed us. She crawled over to her pile of toys and actually pulled him out. She understood exactly what we had asked her. We were speechless. She brought Snoopy back to us and hugged him all the while appearing completely proud and validated by her accomplishment.

Next, I decided to try it again with a different doll. This time I asked her, "Where is Baby Tad?". Sure enough she crawled back to the other side of the room and grabbed her "Baby Tad" doll. Josie and I were in hysterics at this point.

I suppose this reinforces the importance of always teaching children even when you may think they may not completely understand.

Josie and I always make a point of teaching her the names of things. We just had no idea that she was actually grasping some of it. Pretty darned good for a 13 month old!

I will not underestimate her powers again. Piano, here we come! ;-)
