This rumor is everywhere and I truly hope it does indeed come to pass. I can think of about a dozen individuals who are in desperate need of this machine! Yes, they are Windows users and yes, their machines are in a constant state of panic and disarray.

If Apple goes through with this, I will be extremely pleased as both a "switcher" (though I actually switched from Windows to Linux and then to Mac) and as a jaded Windows tech who hasn't personally used a Windows box in over four years.

1. PC users can use their existing monitors.


2. $499? That's a great price for a machine that won't come pre-loaded with tons of promotional "junkware" (cough, Dell, cough).


3. Potential for another innovative design from Apple.


4. This can very likely become Michelle's first computer!

Great bargain, however I would highly recommend a RAM upgrade to at least 512 mb for any Mac OS X based machine.
